Holistic Therapist
Aromatherapy. Reflexology.
Therapeutic Massage.
I am a qualified nurse, midwife, district
nurse and holistic therapist. In the course of my career, I
have become increasingly aware of the soothing, calming and
restorative power of touch. I want to combine the knowledge
I have gained through my years of nursing with my skills as
a complementary therapist. In our modern world, life takes
its toll and we all experience stress, tensions, worry, responsibility, aches
and pains, bereavement,
tiredness at work and at home. Physical, psychological,
emotional and spiritual problems and needs are often
burdensome and sometimes we seek peace and comfort. We want
to regain some balance and energy.
Through these natural and
ancient therapies, it is possible, amongst other things, to
enhance well-being, ease pain, boost confidence, promote
relaxation, reduce anxiety and stress, improve circulation
and digestion, relieve insomnia and headaches, and
revitalize.
I would like to offer three
holistic therapies, each of which has many benefits. They
are intended to complement not replace traditional
healthcare.
AROMATHERAPY
Aromatherapy allows nature to do what it does
best - to balance and soothe body, mind and spirit. It is
the art of using essential oils, derived from flowers and
herbs, which have wonderful healing properties and have been
used in this way for thousands of years. The massage is very
gentle and relaxing. Examples of conditions which respond
well to aromatherapy are: insomnia, lack of concentration,
fear, anger, grief, sadness, poor memory, shyness, fatigue,
anxiety, muscle aches, digestive disorders, sprains and skin
conditions. Many of these distressing symptoms can be
alleviated with this calming treatment.
REFLEXOLOGY
Reflexology is based on the
principle that certain parts of the body reflect the whole,
and that points of the feet respond to pressure, stimulating
the body's own natural healing process. It does not provide
a "cure" but it provides an holistic approach to "becoming
well". Regular sessions work gently to re-establish health
and balance. It is particularly suited to those who may be
hesitant about a full or partial body massage, and it is
often the case that a foot massage and reflexology treatment
is deeply relaxing and may induce feelings of well-being and
uplift. Approximately 70% of modern day disorders can be
related to stress and nervous tension, and Reflexology is
the perfect antidote!
THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE
Out of the basic, ancient
instinct - "rubbing it better", healing traditions all over
the world have developed their own techniques, using the
power of touch to relieve pain and stimulate self-healing. A
full-body massage is a nourishing and invigorating
experience. Swedish massage uses deep, stroking, kneading
movements to soothe tired and aching muscles, ease pain,
increase flexibility and energy levels, and encourage
relaxation. It helps the body eliminate toxins, aids
digestion and strengthens the immune system. Massage can
always be adapted to meet the unique needs and situation of
the individual. Quite often, a simple hands and/or feet
massage can be especially beneficial to those who are
elderly, disabled, frail, immobile, chronically ill and
vulnerable. The loving care communicated via touch is very
comforting.
For many years I have cared
for the elderly. I have found that the old people in
particular, do not experience a great deal of human touch,
particularly in a personal and concentrated way. Conditions
such as Alzheimers Disease, arthritis, failing sight and
hearing, high blood pressure, loneliness, bereavement and
others, can all be helped with a gentle touch, soothing oils
and time.
As part of a Hospice
Respite Team, I have looked after many people who wish to
die in their own home. Frequently I have come across
selfless and dedicated carers, whose constant and exhausting
devotion to their loved ones is remarkable.
I would like to be able to
give these special people and all those who work so hard in
caring professions the strength and support that these
complementary therapies can provide.
I would like to offer my
services, day, evening or week-ends at:
Haigh Lea
Therapy Rooms,
22, Whitefield Road,
Sale.
Cheshire M33 6NZ
Alternatively, I would be
happy to visit those unable to go out, in their own home.
I am also willing to go to Nursing and Care
Homes, Sheltered Accommodation and Schools, if I am needed.

science of love"
